OEM & ODM Food Manufacturing in Malaysia
AWEN GLOBAL runs product development, manufacturing, packaging and export from one place in Malaysia. Bring us a recipe, a sample, or just a market brief — we develop or produce the product, pack it under your brand, and prepare the documentation your market requires. Low minimum order quantities mean you can test a market before scaling.

OEM, ODM or private label — what is the difference?
The three models differ in who owns the recipe and how much development is needed. Choosing the wrong one is the most common reason a first order takes longer than expected.
| Model | Who owns the recipe | What you provide | Best when |
|---|---|---|---|
| OEM (original equipment manufacturing) | You | Recipe, specification, brand and packaging requirements | You already have a product and need a manufacturer to produce it exactly |
| ODM (original design manufacturing) | Us | A brief: target market, price point, flavour or format direction | You want a product developed for your market under your brand |
| Private label | Us (existing range) | Your brand and artwork | You want the fastest route to market with proven products |
We support all three, and it is common to start with private label or ODM and move to OEM once your volumes and formulation are established.
How product development works
1. Brief. Tell us the product type, target market, target retail price and volume. If you have a reference product or sample, send it — it shortens development considerably.
2. Feasibility and quotation. We confirm what can be produced, the MOQ for that product, indicative pricing and the documentation your market requires.
3. Bench samples. We develop the formulation and send samples for tasting and evaluation, along with the draft specification.
4. Packaging and approval. Pack formats, artwork and labelling are agreed, and the final sample is approved by you. Nothing goes into production until this step is signed off.
5. Production and export. Your order is manufactured to the approved specification, documented, and shipped to your port or door.
What we handle beyond manufacturing
Formulation and product development. Recipe development, refinement and cost optimisation against your target price point.
Manufacturing. Food, snacks, beverages and homecare produced on halal-certified lines. See the product categories
Packaging and branding. Your artwork, pack formats and labelling prepared to your market’s requirements — including the language, ingredient and nutrition panels your retailer expects.
Halal and quality documentation. Halal certification and quality documents issued with your order. Read about halal compliance
Export logistics. Freight coordination and shipping documents, so your order moves from our facility to your port or door without you managing a second supplier.
Export documentation and labelling
Documentation requirements differ by market, and discovering a gap at the port is expensive. Before production we confirm:
- Which halal and health documents your destination market requires
- Whether labels need specific language, ingredient or nutrition formats
- Whether the retailer or distributor has additional listing requirements
Then we prepare those documents and labels as part of the order — not as a separate project after the fact.

Why manufacture in Malaysia
Halal ecosystem. Malaysia’s halal certification framework is recognised across the Middle East and Southeast Asia, which simplifies import approval when your market requires halal documentation.
Export infrastructure. Malaysian ports connect directly to major trade lanes, and local manufacturers are experienced in export packing, labelling and documentation.
English-language trade. Specifications, artwork discussions and documentation are handled in English — fewer specification errors, faster approvals.
Cost structure. Production costs sit below Western and Japanese manufacturing while meeting the quality and documentation standards importers require, which matters most on price-sensitive retail lines.
Time zone. Malaysia sits between European and North American business hours and the major Asian markets, so approvals and shipping coordination do not stall overnight.
For buyers consolidating a range, this also means food, beverages and homecare can be sourced, packed and documented from one country and often one partner.
What to send us for a faster quote
The more you send in the first message, the fewer rounds it takes to quote. Ideally:
- Product — what it is, and a reference sample, photo or brand if you have one
- Market — destination country, and whether it is retail, wholesale or food service
- Pack format — retail pack, multipack, bulk carton or bulk ingredient
- Target retail price — so we can propose the pack size that fits the price band
- Volume — first order and your expected annual volume
- Documentation needs — halal, health, or market-specific certificates
- Timeline — when you want the product on shelf
Send that to inquiry@awenglobal.my and we will reply with feasibility, MOQ and indicative pricing — and flag anything missing from the brief before it becomes a delay.
Who this suits
Start-up brands. You have a product concept and a target market but no manufacturer. Low MOQ and private label options let you launch and validate before committing to volume.
Established brands. You need a second manufacturing source, a new flavour or format, or a lower-cost production base for an existing line.
Importers and distributors. You want a private label range to sell under your own brand, produced and documented for your market.
Retail and food-service buyers. You need consistent supply of a specified product with documentation that satisfies your own compliance team.
